Bring a commanding bass sound to your next performance with the Wessex SP28 E♭ sousaphone. In the design of the classic American sousaphones, the SP28 combines a generous bore and large bell with the versatility of four valves—giving E♭ players an instrument designed to make itself heard.
Whether you perform in a marching band, street band or outdoor ensemble, the SP28 delivers the presence and visual impact that make a sousaphone such an exciting part of live music.
The 24-inch forward-facing bell and 17.75mm bore are central to the SP28’s design, helping produce a full bass voice with strong projection. It is an appealing choice for musicians seeking the breadth associated with a large sousaphone while retaining their familiar E♭ fingerings.
The fourth valve adds useful low-register fingering options and musical flexibility. Operate it with your right-hand little finger, or use left-hand operation in the British tradition.
A balanced wrap and removable shoulder pad help support the instrument during standing and marching performances. The shoulder-carried design also frees you from holding a conventional tuba in front of your body.
The SP28 uses 0.8mm brass containing 68% copper, with stainless steel piston valves, nylon valve guides and nickel silver slides. A moulded wheeled case protects the instrument between performances, while the included silver-plated Wessex Mount Vernon mouthpiece completes the package.
Choose lacquered brass, nickel or silver plated finish to suit your ensemble’s appearance.
