Dr. Blake Cooper: Cimbasso

Los Angeles-based freelance Tuba, Cimbasso and Electric Bass player Dr P. Blake Cooper enjoys a busy teaching and performing schedule, amid recording for such popular film, TV, and video game soundtracks as:

Cooper currently plays Principal Tuba for the New West Symphony, and has performed with many other orchestras, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Santa Barbara Symphony, and the San Diego Symphony.

An academic of high regard, Cooper holds a BMME from the University of Kentucky, a MM from the University of Texas, and a DMA from the University of South California; contributing to his positions as Applied Tuba Faculty at the following institutions:

• California State University, Northridge & Los Angeles City College
• Pasadena Conservatory for Music

Alongside this, Cooper is also Music Director and Conductor for the Harmony Project’s Regional Youth Orchestra.
