From as far back as he can remember, Àngel García Martínez’s life has been intertwined with music. Coming from a family where music was the cornerstone, it couldn’t have been any other way. Since childhood, he has enjoyed playing the euphonium and tuba on many levels.
As a student, he won numerous performance competitions at the national level in Spain. He also participated in most of the major youth orchestras in Spain, including the Joven Orquesta de Cataluña, the Joven Orquesta de Valencia, and the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España. Internationally, he was part of the Joven Orquesta del Mediterráneo.
Professionally, he has been the principal tuba of the Orquesta de Tenerife and the Orquesta de las Islas Baleares. He has also performed with most of the major symphony orchestras in Spain.
Since 2008, he has balanced his work as a musician with teaching. He was a tuba professor for the Consejería de Murcia until 2021.
As a soloist, orchestral tuba player, band tuba player, member of a charanga, folk musician, session musician, composer, music producer, or teacher, these are some of the roles that currently define Àngel García Martínez.
All of these are true, and while some define him more than others, they all shape the musician and person he is today.
He is currently a tuba professor at the Conservatorio de Silla. He also teaches at the Santa Cecilia school in Cullera, the Ateneo Musical in Albalat de la Ribera, and the Centro de Estudios Musicales in Benifaió.
