Jonny Shaw: Tuba/Sousaphone

Hailing from the foothills of the Pennines in Northern England, Jonny Shaw is the current Principal BBb Bass for the KNDS Fairey Band - one of the most historically successful and musically diverse British style brass bands in the world - he can also be found performing around the UK as a freelance Tuba/Sousaphone player within the function band scene.

In his youth, Jonny held the position of Principal BBb Bass with both the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and the European Youth Brass Band. He received tutelage from the renowned Rochdale Music Service before studying at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. 

Whilst playing at the highest level of the UK brass banding scene, Jonny has performed with many of the country's leading bands - most notably holding positions with Brighouse & Rastrick, Foden’s, Flowers and Desford Colliery.

Jonny has been dedicated to innovation in Tuba design, previously advising Wessex during the process of prototyping the TB681HP Leviathan BBb. Most recently, Jonny has been involved in the development of the TB950XP Conquerer BBb from design concept through to production. 

Jonny actively shares videos of his performances across social media, seeking to inspire the next generation of young Tubists.
