Building, Touring, and Creating: Highlights from Wessex 2025
2025 has been one of the most exciting years we’ve ever had at Wessex. We’ve travelled further, launched new ventures, met thousands of musicians face-to-face, and continued developing instruments that offer great sound and real value.
From opening our new European headquarters to launching Wessex Woodwind, it’s been a year of building, refining and looking ahead to what players need next. Here’s a look back at what 2025 brought; and what you can expect from us in 2026.
Our First Exhibition in South America
We kicked off the year with something completely new: exhibiting in Peru for the very first time.
Sharing Wessex instruments with brass players across South America was a real highlight. We met musicians who had only seen our tubas and euphoniums online before, and it was inspiring to hear their reactions as they tried them in person.
This trip marks the beginning of our growing presence in the region, with more planned for the future.
The Launch of Wessex Tubas Europe
Another major milestone came in January with the creation of Wessex Tubas Europe; our new European base, led by professional tuba player Jorge Latorre.
Jorge has opened a brand-new showroom in Benicarló, north of Valencia, and is already representing Wessex at events and exhibitions across Spain and the rest of Europe.
His knowledge, musicianship and passion for quality have been invaluable in pushing Wessex to the next level.
This new hub means:
-
Faster shipping across Europe
-
Easier access to try instruments in person
-
More opportunities for musicians to meet the Wessex team at events
2025 has truly set the stage for a stronger, more connected Wessex community across the continent.
The Launch of Wessex Woodwind
In September, we expanded into an exciting new chapter with the launch of Wessex Woodwind, our dedicated site for a growing range of handcrafted saxophones and future woodwind models.
This project is led by Peter Dixon, former Royal Scots Band saxophonist, who brings years of experience and a clear vision for modern, great-playing woodwind instruments.
On the new site, you can now explore:
-
Alto, Tenor and Soprano Saxophones
-
New Antique Finish models
-
The playful and colourful Rainbow Saxophones (currently available for pre-order due to high demand!)
Wessex Woodwind gives us space to grow the range properly, listen to woodwind players, and develop instruments with the same attention to detail and value that Wessex is known for in brass.
What We’ve Been Building Behind the Scenes
Alongside the international travel and big milestones of 2025, there’s also been plenty happening quietly in the background - all focused on strengthening the Wessex experience for players everywhere.
This year, we’ve concentrated on:
Growing our presence in Europe: With the launch of Wessex Tubas Europe in Spain, led by professional tubist Jorge Latorre, we’ve been laying the foundations for a stronger, more accessible service for musicians across the continent; from faster shipping to hands-on testing in the new Benicarló showroom.
Expanding the Wessex family into woodwind: The creation of Wessex Woodwind, headed by former Royal Scots Band saxophonist Peter Dixon, marks the start of a long-term development journey into new instruments, new finishes, and a broader musical future.
Supporting more players, in more places: From Peru to Spain and further across Europe, our 2025 schedule has been packed with exhibitions, meet-the-player events, and opportunities to put Wessex instruments in musicians’ hands, gathering real, player-led feedback every step of the way.
Laying the groundwork for new releases: While details are still under wraps, the work done across 2025 has set the stage for fresh developments, upgrades, and new instruments arriving in 2026.
Every improvement - big or small - helps us deliver instruments that feel more responsive, sound richer and give musicians more confidence in performance.
What to Expect in 2026
We won’t spoil everything just yet, but here’s a glimpse into what’s coming next year:
-
Expanded availability in Europe through the new showroom
-
More appearances at events worldwide
-
Further refinement to some of our best-loved instruments
-
A growing woodwind range, including new finishes and new prototypes already in testing
2026 will be a year of building on everything we started in 2025: with even more to look forward to.
A Final Thank You
Whether you’ve bought an instrument, visited us at an exhibition, emailed us with feedback or simply followed our journey online: thank you.
Wessex has always been about bringing great instruments to more players, and we’re able to keep growing because of the incredible support from musicians around the world.
Here’s to more music, more collaboration and more exciting launches in 2026.
